The Battlefield 4 multiplayer portion is the hart of the game. While many will appreciate the singleplayer campaign, the series is know for its exceptional multiplayer gameplay. As with previous games, Battlefield 4 multiplayer will feature numerous gameplay modes, maps, vehicles, and more.
Additionally, players will be able to rank up and receive awards such as ribbons and medals as a showcase for their service. Like in previous games, there will be at least two Battlefield 4 factions to play as. Here’s a complete breakdown of Battlefield 4 multiplayer:

 

 

Battlefield 4 multiplayer game modes

Battlefield 4 will feature all the popular game modes from previous games in the series. Battlefield 4 multiplayer game modes include Conquest, Rush, Deathmatch, and Team Deathmatch. Additional game modes such as Capture The Flag and Air Domination might be released in future DLC expansions. 

Ranks, awards, and dog tags

Battlefield 4 multiplayer awardsBattlefield 4 multiplayer will feature Battlefield 4 ranks, where players earn points and rank up, unlocking more weapons and gadgets. Like previous games, there will be plenty of Battlefield 4 awards to earn, including medals, ribbons, and Battlefield 4 dog tags as well.

Battlefield 4 multiplayer maps

Multiplayer maps will be scalable based on how many players are present, and most maps are expected to support multiple game modes. Some maps will be based on locations from the singleplayer campaign, just like in BF3. For more, check out the full maps page.

Weapons, vehicles, classes, and factions

Battlefield 4 multiplayer weaponsThe game is expected to feature the same classes as BF3. classes are expected to include the Recon, Assault, Engineer, and Support. Players will have a wide selection of weapons, vehicles, gadgets, and other items at their disposal. weapons will include the usual array of assault rifles, sniper rifles, pistols and shotguns. Players can join squads in the game, which gives them several benefits. For one, they can respawn next to any squad member, and get bonus points and squad specializations as well. One player per team can apply to become the Battlefield 4 Commander, which gives him several in-game abilities, such as providing supplies, calling in air strikes, and more.

Battlefield 4 features 3 playable factions in multiplayer: China, Russia, and the US faction. Each of the factions have their own set of weapons and vehicles.

Weapon and gadget unlocks

As players rank up, they unlock weapons, gadget, specializations, dog tags, and more. For more, check out our full breakdown of all unlocks. Unlocks in Battlefield 4 multiplayer can be earned by ranking up in general, and by playing as a specific class. Weapons can also be unlocked by completing certain tasks and assignments in the game. New DLC usually brings along more weapons and gadgets and equipment for players.

Battlefield 4 multiplayer point system

The point system is expected to carry over from BF3. In its basic form, players will get 100 points for a kill, up to 75 points for kill assist, 10 points for spot assist, 200 points for capturing a flag, 200 points for destroying a vehicle, etc. If you’re familiar with the point system in BF3, you’ll feel right at home in BF4. Battlefield 4 multiplayer servers

Players will be able to rent and operate their own multiplayer servers. The servers will be offered through trusted server providers. There are two types of servers for the game: ranked and unranked. Unranked means that stats are not tracked, while ranked servers offer stats. Ranked servers are usually more expensive to rent. Via Battlelog, players can also create and join Battlefield 4 Platoons, which is a clan-like feature.
Battlefield 4 multiplayer is available on all platforms, including the PC, Xbox 360, the new Xbox One, PS3 and PS4. However, only the PC and next-gen versions will support up to 64 players per map. Multiplayer server rentals are offered on all platforms.
